ANALOGUE vs. DIGITAL HUMAN feat. ART 26–27 February 2026 at JAMU/ BRNO / CZECH REPUBLIC

I will deliver a paper titled “William Kentridge: Analog Resistance to ‘Pure’ Digitality” at the Theatre Conference JAMU 2026 in Brno (26–27 February 2026). This conference, organized by the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, focuses this year on “Analogue vs. Digital Human in Art” and serves as a platform for dialogue on the relationship between humans and technology in art. In my presentation, I will analyze the work of South African artist William Kentridge as an example of productive techno-pessimism, highlighting the importance of materiality, the imperfection of hand gestures, and the presence of the body in interaction with media and technology.

Theatre Conference JAMU is an international forum for artists, researchers, and theatre practitioners exploring contemporary challenges of communication between analogue and digital in the context of art and the humanities.
