PQ Symposium 2026

In April 2026, I presented my research at the Prague Quadrennial Symposium Performing Exhibitions, Curating Scenographies (13–15 April), contributing a paper titled Hand as Eye: Touch as a Haptic Strategy in Scene-Exhibition Practices.

My presentation explored hapticity as an alternative and complementary mode of experiencing scenography, grounded in the idea that we are not only homo opticus or homo auditus, but also homo hapticus. I examined how touch, proximity, and movement across surfaces can foster a more immediate and embodied understanding of scenographic forms.

The research proposed expanding haptic strategies beyond accessibility frameworks, positioning touch as a universal mode of engagement. Within the context of PQ’s multi-layered exhibition structure, I suggested that scenographic displays could function as experimental environments, incorporating tactile elements and emerging technologies (such as haptic interfaces or sensor-based systems) to investigate how audiences physically and emotionally respond to scenography.

This approach reframes exhibition space as a laboratory for embodied perception, opening new possibilities for deepening the relationship between materiality and the viewer’s corporeal experience.
