The presentations devoted to the research methods and scholarly writing of Zbigniew Raszewski, delivered during the academic conference “Raszewski / Perspectives” (27–28 November 2025), co-organised by the Theatre Institute and the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art, demonstrated that despite the passage of time, the Professor’s work remains a source of insight, discovery, and inspiration.
Jagoda Hernik Spalińska, asking whether “Raszewski was Greenblatt,” analysed the uniqueness of Raszewski’s research methods in relation to the assumptions of cultural poetics. Film scholar Wojciech Świdziński observed that these methods resonated with the practices of the proponents of New Film History. Michał Smolis offered a rereading of Bogusławski, a canonical example of the artist’s biography. Jarosław Cymerman pointed to the city as an environment that—when subjected to the Professor’s observation and reflection—“ordered ways of seeing the world, people, and history.” Grzegorz Kondrasiuk examined Raszewski’s connections with popular culture, while Martyna Groth addressed the issue of his pedagogical methods.
As an addendum to the conference presentations, we publish Dorota Kołodziejczyk’s account of a peculiar artefact discovered among the Professor’s personal memorabilia, as well as of the circumstances surrounding the arrest of the teenage Raszewski by German forces in the spring of 1940. The materials presented in the recording come from the collections of the Theatre Institute.
